November 2011 - Repak Recycling Competition Winners

Pictured below are the lucky winners of the daily draws held at all three recycling centres during Repak Recycling Week which ran from the 3rd of October to the 8th of October. Each visitor to the site every day were entered into a draw for prizes and also there was a draw for who could guess the amount of plastic bottles in the bale. Every child who came to the help their parents recycle recieved a special recycle pack and the parents received a Recycle bag to help them with their Recycling. All in all it was a successful week with the help of Repak and Monaghan and Cavan County Council and McElvaneys would like to thank all who came along to take part.

 October 2011 - School Tour At Corranure Recycling Centre

On the 4th of October Corrlurgan N.S. visited the recycling centre for a School tour. 30 pupils from all the classes attended to get a tour of the recycling centre. They were shown all the materials accepted at Corranure, what happens to them and where they are sent to for further recycling. The children enjoyed themselves and even brought their own materials from school to recycle. All the Children received a Recycle Pack courtesyof McElvaney Waste and Recycling which proved very popular and will also help towards their Green Schools Project.

 August 2011 - Cavan Recycling Centre Re-Opens!!!

In August the Corranure Recycling Centre re-opened in Cavan. A great facility for the people of Cavan to recycle their waste. McElvaneys now operate three Recycling centres, two in Monaghan and one in Cavan.

June 2011 - Official Opening At The Carrickmacross recycling Centre.

The official opening of the Carrickmacross recycling Centre ran between Monday 27th June - Saturday 2nd July 2011.  Every visitor was entered into a great competition to win some fantastic prizes.

  • 1st Prize was a Free Wheel Bin Collection Service for 6 months
  • 2nd Prize was a €50 voucher for Super Value or The Shirley Arms hotel.

The first 500 visitors to visit the Recycling Centre  during the week Monday 27th June -

Saturday 2nd of July also got a free large recycling bag and every child who came along to Recycle during the open week were given a Free Recycle Pack.

Also Compost Bins are on special offer for the month of June and July at the Carrickmacross Recycling Centre only. €20 per bin (includes a free kitchen caddy and booklet).

April 2011 - Two New Vans

Another addition to the McElvaney fleet sees the upgrade of their delivery vehicles with the purchases of 2 new vans. These vans are hoping not to encounter any snow this year!!

March 2011 - Scotch Corner CA Site Transformed!!

Scotch Corner Recycle centre undergoes "operation transformation" which sees a complete revamp of the layout of the site. Large clear signs for all materials are erected and new containers for the various materials put in place to help make recycling easier for people. The changes have been welcomed by all the customers using the site.

March 2011 - Brown Bins for Ballybay!

March 2011 see's the Brown Bins roll out to households in Ballybay Town and gets off to a great start with customers adapting to the segregation of their organic waste from their waste bin.

January 2010 - Winter Conditions!

Snow still persists but as like last month, McElvaneys are out with vans and trucks again to collect bins.

December 2010 - Winter Conditions Disrupt Service!!!

Heaviest snow falls in years results in disruptions to collections throughout County Monaghan but McElvaneys are doing their utmost best to collect as many bins as possible and to send vans out to roads where lorries cannot pass and collect up to 80% of all bins.

November 2010 - Tag a Bin System, One Year On!

One year on from the launch of the Tag a Bin and what a success it has proven. The list of shops throughout the County selling Tags continues to grow.

August 2010 - €2 Gate Fee

Scotch Corner introduces €2 gate fee to fall in line with all other Civic Amenity Sites and abolishes fees for scrap metal, timber, Paints/oils, Polystyrene etc. Only household waste, bulky waste and grass/hedge cuttings incur a separate charge.

August 2010 - New Recycling centre in Carrickmacross!!!

Recycling just got easier in South Monaghan!!!! New Recycle centre opens in Carrickmacross. The people of South Monaghan no longer have to travel outside the County as McElvaneys in partnership with Monaghan County Council have opened a brand new state of the art recycle centre accepting over 30 different types of materials. Also late night openings to 8pm May to September. (See Recycling Centres Section for more info).

June 2010 - Easy Pay Options

June 2010 also brought the launch of the Easy Pay Options. McElvaneys Wheel Bin Customers can now pay their 6 monthly bill at their local post office or shop with paypoint facilities. This can be payed either in full or every month, simply bring your invoice in to be scanned and pay off the desired amount 

June 2010 - New Bin Truck 

In June 2010 McElvanyes unveil their latest addition to the fleet , a 2010 Volvo FM 9 Bin Truck complete with PM Onboard Weighing system to help with the increased customer base due to the success of the Tag a Bins.

November 2009 - Pay As You Go Tag a Bin 

 November saw the introduction of the Pay as You Go Tag a BIn system (See Wheel Bin Service Section).

September & December 2009 - Brown Organic Waste Bin

September & December saw the roll out of the Brown Bins for household organic waste in the towns of Carrickmacross & Castleblayney respectively. Almost 1/3 of all household waste is part of the organic fraction and the purpose of these specialised collections is to divert this compostable waste away from landfill. The current scheme in operation in Monaghan Town has been well welcomed by McElvaney customers and hopefully Carrickmacross will embrace the brown bin with the same enthusiasm.

McElvaney's are pleased to inform customers that there will be NO disruption to Service due to St. Patricks Day.

Yes, your Waste Bin will be collected as normal on Tuesday the 17th of March.

February 2009 - Brown Organic Waste Bin

Februrary saw the roll out of the Brown Bins for household organic waste to 500 households in a selected area of Monaghan town, on a pilot scheme. Collections started the first week of March and were an instant success in helping to divert more waste away from landfill as required by EU law. McElvaneys would like to thank all those taking part in this successful new scheme.

February 2009 - Glass Collections

February saw the introduction of Glass collections for pubs, hotels & restaurants in Co. Monaghan. McElvaney's provide household size wheel bins to collect bottle glass.

The main advantage of this service is that the glass does not have to be sorted into the different colours ie. Clear, Green & Brown and collections are carried out on a weekly basis. Call now to order your Glass bin collection.

January 2009 - Confidential Document Shredding

McElvaney's Waste & Recycling are pleased to introduce a Confidential Document Shredding service to all our customers, old and new. This service can be provided in many different ways, all to suit the customers needs.

June 2008 - Poly & Plaster

McElvaney's can now accept both Polystyrene and Plasterboard at the Recycling Centre at the Scotch Corner.  See the Recycling Centre section for further details.

December 2008 - Brown Bin Collection

McElvaney's are looking to introduce an ORGANIC Waste Bin to customers in both Monaghan and Carrickmacross under new Biodegradable waste management laws.
